Special Meeting (June 4, 2005)
A special meeting of the Ontario Zoroastrian Community Foundation was held on June 4, 2005 at the Ramada Hotel in Etobicoke.
This meeting was held after an open house site visit of 1187 Burnhamthorpe Road East property in Oakville, held earlier between
the hours of 9:30 am until 11 am, where members of the community viewed the proposed site of the future home of the OZCF, and
the object of the community's dream and vision.
The Board of Directors demonstrated the diligent pursuit of the directors in taking the community to the first step of searching
an appropriate site to build the foundation of our community. President Phil Sidhwa introduced the metrics set out by the
Board to find a suitable site, based on various factors, and how they have been searching for a piece of land for this venture.
It is with delight, that he presented pictures of the proposed site and explained how this site fit every metric set out by the
community's representative Board.
Various respected members of the community then expressed their delight, joy and overwhelming support of the board and the choice
of the proposed site.
Then, the resolution to purchase the land with the sanction of the community was put to vote. Phil asked the community to raise
their voting cards to indicate favour to the resolution. There were too many votes to count, so upon suggestion that the vote be
turned around to poll who was opposed to the purchase was put forward. Within seconds, it was apparent - the community voted in
total support, with not a single vote against and all 211 votes in favour.
After celebrating the unanimous decision, the members present donated an amount in excess of another
$120,000 $155,000 before
leaving for their homes. Director Marzi Byramjee urged the community to dig deep into their pockets and continue to generate
monies to get our dream to the next step.
Inauguration Jashan (May 20, 2002)
With many priests presiding over the auspicious ceremony, and with well over 350 Zarathustis in attendance,
the formation of the OZCF was blessed with an inauguration Jashan on May 20th, 2002, at the Sangam Banquet Hall in Mississauga.
The OZCF board of directors would like to thank all attendees for participating in this historic event and hope for your continued
support.
